Dredging the Port of Georgetown
With a consistently high unemployment rate, Georgetown County needs a long-term economic boost. Dredging the Port of Georgetown will go a long way to creating prosperity where there currently is not. Studies show the result of dredging will be thousands of jobs throughout the Georgetown-Andrews area.
The dredging of the port would require increased staffing and in itself create new jobs. As larger cargo vehicles have access to the port, new business will call Georgetown home. Existing businesses will expand and the creation of new jobs will follow.
Not only will the steel and paper mills be able to expand, but the effects will be felt everywhere including the specialty shops, businesses and restaurants that call Front Street home.

Strong Public Education
As a country, we are currently 37th when it comes to educating our youth. To be on top once again, students need the tools and curriculum to learn in a 21st century economy. Our children are no longer competing for jobs between states, but between nations.
The foundation to a successful career begins with a solid education. South Carolina needs to emphasize the use of STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education to make sure our children are ready for the future.
We believe in higher teacher salaries and giving teachers the tools & technologies that are needed to make our children successful in the classroom.

Voting Rights for All
The Voting Rights Act was passed to ensure that ALL eligible citizens in this country have the right to voice their opinion at the ballot box. This has come under attack the past few years for the sake of “voter fraud”. Studies show that voter fraud is statistically non-existent.
Voter ID laws will hurt the ability for the student, elderly and minority populations among us to vote. As a party, we must fight voter suppression to keep our democracy strong, vibrant and remind everyone that this is a country “for and by the people”.
